Critical Illness

What is Critical Illness Cover?

Finding out that you have a critical illness can be devastating. Having critical illness cover will not take away the anguish, but having protection in place can help to bear the cost. Critical Illness Cover pays out a lump sum of money if you were to have one or more Critical Illnesses from a specified list of illnesses.

This is important cover for most people as no-one knows when a Critical Illness will strike. It could mean that you may never be able to work again. This might result in you needing to make structural changes to your home, make numerous visits to the hospital or incur care costs, none of which is cheap. It might be needed to live on until you are able to return to work.

Critical Illness cover can be a standalone policy, but is often added to a Life Assurance policy.

In this case, if a critical illness was diagnosed and a payout made, the policy would cease.
